Welcome to the 36th annual running of the Ice Age Trail 50!


Friday, May 12th: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Runners can pick up their race packet and bib Friday night at Rushing Waters, N301 County Road H, Palmyra, Wisconsin. Rushing Waters is located about two miles north of the Ice Age Start/Finish area on Hwy H. 

Saturday, May 13th: 5:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Runners can pick up their packet Saturday morning at the Start/Finish area in the Nordic Trail parking lot located on Hwy H 1 ½ miles north of LaGrange, WI.


Start Times
50 Mile Run – 6:00 a.m. Sharp
50k Mile Run – 8:15 a.m.
Half Marathon – 9:00 a.m.

All races will start on the Nordic Trail located in the Nordic Trail parking lot, roughly 1 1/2 miles north of La Grange, Wisconsin on Hwy. H.  GPS Coordinates: 42.821715,-88.600437


Parking is extremely limited, so please arrive early.

A Wisconsin State Park parking pass is required to park in the starting area.  All registered runners will receive a pass when they enter the park, which is good for race day only. Make sure that you place sticker on the inside of the lower front driver windshield. In the event that no parking spaces are available in the Nordic lot when you arrive, there is overflow parking across Hwy H in the John Muir lot.  In the event that the Muir lot is full, you will have to drive 2.3 miles north on Hwy H to the site of our packet pick-up, Rushing Waters.  Shuttle service to the start will be available from there.

Cutoff and Course Closing Times

For an official finish, runners in the 50-mile race will have to complete the course in 12 hours (6:00 pm). There is a 9:45 cutoff for the 50k (6:00 pm). The Half Marathon course will close four hours after the start (1:30 pm).

Runners in all three races will receive timing chips, but official results will be based on GUN TIMES.  No one crossing the 50 Mile finish line after the 12:00:00 cut-off as given by the finish line clock will be officially scored.

Post Race BBQ Dinner

The Post Race BBQ Dinner in the finish area will begin around 12:15 p.m. The BBQ dinner, catered by Glenn’s Market of Watertown, is free to all Ice Age Trail 50 runners and volunteers and to everyone who has pre-paid for additional BBQ dinners for their family members.  BBQ tickets can also be purchased in front of the shelter for $15 each. (Please bring cash or a check!)  Beer and soda will be provided.


• There will be two award ceremonies for the 50 mile race — an early presentation at 3:00 and the final ceremony at 6:00 p.m.

• All 50 Mile finishers under 12 hours will receive a custom-made, 36th annivesary Ice Age buckle.

• The 50K awards are scheduled to be presented at 3:00 p.m.

• All finishers of the 50K run will receive a key chain with the 2017 Ice Age logo.

• The Half Marathon awards will be presented at 1:30 p.m.

• All finishers of the Half Marathon run will receive a key chain with the 2017 Ice Age logo.
